Position Summary Responsible for the Mammography quality control procedures at The Medical Center at Bowling Green and when needed provides guidance to the other Med Center Health facilities.
Performs Mammography procedures as requested. Assists Radiologist with stereotactic breast biopsy procedures as indicated.
Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Two years of Mammography experience required.
Education Completion of Radiological Technology program of study required.
Certifications / Licensure ARRT registration with Mammography registry designation required. State of Kentucky Radiation Operator Certification required.

Develops, implements and orientates mammography personnel to the Mammography policy and procedures manual. Revises and updates Mammography policy and procedures as needed or on an annual basis.
Maintains the quality documentation for MCBG facility in accordance with the ACR and MQSA. Documents and maintains continuing education as required by MQSA.
Responds to MQSA rules and regulations. Devises policies and forms to meet compliance of MQSA. Responds with compliance to ACR / MQSA / FDA rules, regulations and updates in relation to mammography.
Assists other Med Center Healthentities in their effort to improve mammography quality and compliance with ACR / MQSA / FDA rules, regulations.
Assists with MCBG facility inspections offering assistance and support with respect to mammography function. Orders mammography supplies and stays updated on new products and trends.
Correlates mammography results with pathology results on a quarterly basis and provides Radiologists with this information.
Performs mammography examinations according to established procedure manual or can modify when unable to perform standard procedure.
Determines that adequate history and diagnosis is given or exam ordered according to established indicators. Locates, reviews and attaches latest pertinent exam and report for comparison by physician and Radiologist.
Identifies patient film with name, date, and exam number correctly. Utilizes right and left marker accordingly. Applies proper shielding and collimating for patient protection according to established guidelines.
Performs and maintains Mammography quality control to the established standard. Assists Radiologist and / or attending physician with stereotactic or localizing procedures as indicated, using sterile technique when applicable.
Utilizes and cares for equipment as described in established guidelines. Notifies manager or biomedical engineering technician of equipment problems and documents date, time, location and problem on equipment log.
Assists by making exposures and providing as much insight to the problem as possible.
