Your Opportunity
Stantec is currently seeking to grow our FEMA project support team. We are looking for Specialists, Environmental Scientists, Engineers, Project Managers and other professionals to join our team throughout the United States.
We are open to candidates in various office locations with experience in FEMA's Risk MAP, Public Assistance (PA) or BRIC Direct Technical Assistance programs or other related disaster management or risk reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities may include support on FEMA Risk MAP projects, such as regulatory and flood risk product development, hazard mitigation planning, technical assistance, building science research or risk communication.
Depending on position, you may perform tasks that include project management, engineering calculations, data analysis or field work.
There is also the opportunity to assist other program leaders by managing assignments and contribute to business development.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Utilize knowledge of general water resources concepts and relevant engineering / geospatial elements to perform analysis of watersheds for floodplain management and risk analysis.
- Assist team in preparing drawings, presentations and / or reports.
- Conduct basic calculations and / or analyses as assigned and under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
- Attend project meetings involving local government officials, agencies and the public.
- Opportunity to mentor and oversee young engineers or professionals.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a strong understanding of risk communication, mitigation planning or floodplain management.
Ideal candidates should have at least 2-years' experience with some or all of the following : riverine modeling, coastal modeling, hazard mitigation technical assistance, FIRM and FIS development, GIS, hazard mitigation plan development, grant writing or other floodplain / disaster related activities. Desired skills include :
- Experience with ArcPRO, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microsoft Project.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, geography, environmental science, or related field. Master's degree a plus.
- Being a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), a plus.
- Direct project experience with public outreach and communication meetings is also desired.
- Must have valid driver's license.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
