Job Description Summary

The Lead Development Quality Assurance (DQA) Engineer - Process Assurance is responsible for conducting independent assessments of engineering compliance with systems, rules, and processes.

This role ensures that all control system software meets both internal and external standards and requirements. As a Lead DQA Engineer, you will verify that projects and products are capable of meeting applicable industry and regulatory standards, particularly within the aerospace sector.

Your deep understanding of standards, practices, and regulatory requirements across aerospace systems, software, and hardware will be essential to maintaining and enhancing our quality assurance processes.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance : Ensure that control system software developed by GE Aerospace follows suitable, rigorous, and structured processes.
  • Compliance Assessments : Conduct assessments / audits of engineering development activities to gauge compliance with applicable regulatory, industrial, and company standards, including but not limited to :
  • RTCA / DO-178B / C
  • RTCA / DO-254
  • MIL-HDBK-516
  • SAE ARP4754A
  • Documentation Review : Review technical documentation to ensure it meets Quality and Compliance requirements.
  • QA Plans and Instructions : Generate Quality Assurance plans and work instructions for the execution of Quality Assurance functions.
  • Root Cause Analysis : Perform root cause and corrective action investigations using appropriate procedures.
  • Status Reporting : Provide regular and thorough status reports and data to leadership.
  • Record Maintenance : Ensure Quality records are maintained, metrics are collected, and reports are provided to the business.
  • Stakeholder Interaction : Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Guidance and Training : Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training on quality processes and requirements.
  • Objective Evidence : Generate and maintain objective evidence of assessment activities for customer and regulatory review.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or high school diploma with a minimum of 7 years experience
  • At least 3 additional years of experience in engineering, quality, process assurance or compliance

  • Technical Aptitude : Strong technical skills, including knowledge of applicable engineering tools and systems.
  • Project Coordination : Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Embedded Controls Experience : Experience with embedded control systems.
  • Communication Skills : Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and Leadership Skills : Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Experience within other relevant industries could be transferable - examples include :
  • IEC 62304
  • ISO 26262
