Lead Mechanical Engineer
Salary : $110,000 $150,000 annual based on experience (top of the range requires strong plastics extrusion / systems equipment experience and this is a hands-on role)
The position can be housed out of a number of locations across the country near a major airport and a commutable distance from a plant;
Columbus, Ohio would be excellent. Relocation assistance is available. Sponsorship for immigration cases is unavailable.
Must be able to meet travel requirement of up to 70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.
Summary :
The Engineering Lead is responsible for successfully implementing / supporting / managing various manufacturing platforms used for production in domestic and international locations.
The Engineering Lead acts as the team lead for implementing projects.
Primary Job Responsibilities :
- Successfully coordinate and schedule team members who are supporting various equipment projects, facility projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in emergency troubleshooting to expedite the plant's return to production.
- Lead sourcing and installation of critical plant support equipment (chillers, compressors, towers, vacuum pumps, grinders, and electrical infrastructure).
- Provide leadership support for equipment installations.
- Participate and lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) problem solving and Continuous Improvement Kaizen events.
- Work with the plant teams to predict, plan, and execute field rebuilds of worn equipment.
- Define and execute plant support projects to satisfy internal customers (Plant Managers).
Job Skills
- Plastic extrusion or injection mold experience.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude.
- Work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze risks and develop mitigation reports.
- Familiarity with lean processes and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
Educational Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred
- 2-4 years Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plastics acceptable with experience.
- Equivalent experience
- Multilingual (preferred)
Preferred Experience :
- Read and write fluently in English and Spanish, as needed
- At least five years in a manufacturing environment
- In addition to strong mechanical knowledge and experience, electrical or mechatronics is a plus.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work within the plant climate conditions
- Position requires a full range of body motion - including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and the ability to mount / dismount industrial equipment and vehicle
- Work safely in and around plant equipment
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in temperature extremes
- Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
- Meet travel requirement of up to 60%-70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.
