Duties of this position include :
- Maintains a safe and secure school environment for the students.
- Assesses, analyzes, and classifies students’ communication competencies and characteristics.
- Plans, prepares and delivers treatment programs for students with speech and language deficiencies.
- Provides diagnostic assessments of students.
- Participates in Professional Learning Communities and sustained professional development as part of a school based initiative
- Implements an individualized educational program (IEP) in conjunction with parents and teachers for students who are eligible for speech and language services and in need of speech as a related service.
- Provides individual and small group intervention sessions with students who have been classified.
- Maintains records necessary for each student and completes all required reports.
- Participates in the development and improvement of opportunities for disabled students by providing individual or group in-service experiences for staff and parents.
- Conducts ongoing evaluation of students to determine appropriateness of their speech programs.
- Serves as an educational resource to classroom teachers, team members and administrators, as necessary.
- Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining special equipment needed for student communication and feeding.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
- Communicates effectively with students.
- Communicates effectively with family and demonstrates cooperative working relationships with team members.
- Communicates effectively with Principal and / or designee.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Speech / Language Pathology from an accredited college or university required.
Licensure / Certifications :
American Speech and Hearing / Language Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech / Language Pathology (CCC).
NJ Department of Education Speech Correctionist or Speech / Language Specialist Certificate.
NJ Speech / Language Pathologist License.
