Duties Include :
- Preparing patients to be seen by provider, including obtaining past medical history.
- Ensuring proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment; communicating with and answering patient questions regarding treatment plans, medication, and wound care.
- Assisting the physician during surgery while maintaining a clean field.
- Nursing procedures such as suture removals.
- Wound checks; cleaning and sterilizing instruments daily; ensures instruments, rooms, and supplies are cleaned and sterilized.
- Punctuality and attendance key.

Requirements
Must have one of the following :
- Graduated from an approved medical assistant training program as identified in R4-16-101; or
- Graduated from an unapproved medical assistant training program and successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.
Some examples of this include the CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) certification offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants, or the RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification offered by American Medical Technologists, etc.; or
- Before February 2, 2000, the candidate completed an unapproved medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant after program completion and has kept their certification active and current; or
- Before February 2, 2000, the candidate was directly supervised by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2,000 hours; or
- Completes a United States Armed Forces medical services training program.
Additional requirements :
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality, promote teamwork, detail oriented, mature, reliable, demonstrate good judgment, and present a professional image.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, required.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, anatomy, and medications.
- Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities. Interpersonal skills to support patient experience.
- You must have at least one year of medical assistant experience and have an interest in Mohs surgery!
- Experience in Mohs or surgical assistant is a plus.
Salary Description
$17.38-$26.52 per hour, dependent upon experience
