Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Division of Marketing and Development is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Marketing Administrative Assistant for the Office of International Marketing.
- This position reports to the Managing Director and performs duties such as tracking all international marketing activities, contracts, and expenses;
- serving as the point of contact for Office staff and international trade offices; reviewing and editing documents; coordinating travel plans;
procuring office supplies and all related vouchers and requisitions; maintaining filing systems; and performing entry-level marketing duties such as basic market research and working on presentations and marketing materials.
Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth’s telework policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of office administrative practices and financial practices and procedures along with basic knowledge of marketing principles.
Excellent customer service and oral / written communication skills to include the ability to draft documents in a clear and concise manner using proper grammar and punctuation.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a wide diversity of responsibilities and prioritize work assignments to effectively meet deadlines and enhance operating efficiency;
- to interpret and apply policies and procedures; to independently make decisions and recommend solutions based on policies and procedures;
and to work with and interact professionally with agency employees, other government agencies and the general public involving a wide range of personalities.
Extensive ability to use and learn computer software with a high level of proficiency in the MS Office Suite. Ability to conduct market research and draft presentations and marketing materials.
HS Diploma / GED required.
Additional Considerations
A combination of related education, training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities to include existing knowledge of the Commonwealth’s administrative policies related to finance, procurement and travel regulations.
Experience in a similar environment that involves handling multiple priorities, making travel plans, and procuring office supplies.
Experience working independently to manage work-flow, special projects, and coordinating tasks involving multiple stakeholders.
Experience providing customer service to a variety of stakeholders from vendor level to executive level.
