Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join us. This position can be based out of our offices in Wethersfield, CT;

Providence, RI; or Worcester, MA.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects
• Support traffic-safety studies, road safety assessments, and transportation planning documentation
• Research, collect, tabulate, and interpret traffic and safety data
• Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
• Develop preliminary and final design plans
• Develop engineer's construction cost estimates
• Prepare contract documents, including specifications
• Document and communicate findings from field observations and data collection

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
• Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
• Strong computer skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering
• 0-1 year of professional transportation engineering experience
• 1-3 years of professional transportation engineering experience preferred
• Engineer in Training certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months, preferred
• MicroStation, AutoCAD / Civil3D, InRoads, HydroCAD experience a plus
