The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Medical Assistant II to work at the Medicine Specialty Clinic.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to :

Medical Assistants in the Medicine Specialty Clinics are able to work with a variety of internal medicine patients. Dependent on the area some of the skills learned can include allergy / skin testing, walking desaturations, spirometry, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring, and IM / SQ injections.

This is a great place to learn and grow as a Medical Assistant because it gives you the ability to diversify your skill set in several areas.

  • Medical Assistants spend a great deal of time working with our patients, doing faxes and limited phone triage.
  • Team structure is unique, and Medical Assistants will be working with RNs, LPNs, Paramedics and Nursing Assistants. This structure gives Medical Assistants the chance to work on their delegation and prioritization skills.
  • There is room for advancement to a Medical Assistant lead.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word / data processing equipment and / or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time : 100%

Schedule : M-F Days, variable hours between 0800-1730, no weekends or holidays

Hourly : $19.21 to commensurate.

Location : UIHC Main Campus (PFP)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements :

Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)

Candidates must upload copy of their educational transcripts if they are not certified / registered as a Medical Assistant or if they have not completed a Medical Assistant Program.
