Day in the Life of a Technical Writer
Fluke in Poland is growing - we are growing a R&D team in Wroclaw to deliver our newest products. This is a rare opportunity to build a new team within an already-established environment.
You will also have a chance to cooperate with other team-members located in EMEA and US.
As a Technical Writer at Fluke, your typical day will involve working with cross-functional teams to create technical user documentation to ensure our Products delivery.
You will work on a variety of NPI and sustaining projects. You will manage the writing over time, translation and release of documents, being an essential part of our program's lifecycle.
SUMMARY
- Collect and interpret engineering documents, product specifications, and marketing analyses and work with development teams.
- Write original copy in a clear, coherent, well-organized manner, using graphics, technical vocabulary and concepts that are appropriate to the product and familiar to the customer.
- Adhere to department standards and writing guidelines, including Simplified Technical English.
- Work with translation vendors to localize and translate manuals, reference guides, on-line help, and display screens for international markets.
- Assist in resolving technical, organizational, writing and publication problems, coordinate with editor and illustrators.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities to develop assigned user documentation.
- Work to established schedules to meet required deadlines.

- Work independently under moderate supervision.
- Conform to established practices and procedures. Errors may adversely affect company’s customers and image and can cause shipment delays and impacts company financials.
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS REQUIRED :
- Project management experience and solid writing skills.
- Technical background, and the capacity to master new technical information quickly.
- Proficiency in use of desktop publishing tools techniques and practices.
- Required familiarity with Adobe products including : FrameMaker, Illustrator, InDesign, and Distiller.
- Competency with MS Word.
- Experience with documenting hardware products.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Engineering, Journalism, English, or other
- writing intensive liberal art, with 3-6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
