Position Overview : Ophthalmology technician work with ophthalmologists, medical doctors who specialize in the diagnoses and treatment of eye diseases and disorders.

Ophthalmology technician work in a number of capacities, including assisting during eye surgery and setting up and performing maintenance on equipment.

In addition, ophthalmology technician often perform diagnostic testing, including measuring a patient's vision, checking eye pressure, motility, and other task requested by the doctor.

Responsibilities :

Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist by gathering data pertaining to the patient's visual status by

maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient quality eye care

The ophthalmic technician is able to effectively perform appropriate clinical testing by previous form education

and or clinical experience which allows an understanding of the theory, principals of eye care

  • Visual acuity measurement
  • Tonometry (measure eye pressure)
  • Refraction
  • Measure pupil size and reactivity
  • Test and measure eye muscle function
  • Visual field testing
  • Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
  • Surgical assisting
  • Performed other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Ophthalmic experience in full service ophthalmic setting
  • COA certification or greater is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solver with analytical skills.
  • Personable; empathetic with patient's needs and concerns.
  • Well-organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Internal candidates must be employed for a minimum of six consecutive months to be eligible to apply.
