Job Description

Position Overview :

The Rehabilitation Technician is responsible for providing assistance in the administration of activities in the Computer Lab, Library and the Therapeutic Recreation Services.

Responsibilities :

• Oversee the day to day functioning of the Computer lab, Resident Gym, Library and Fresh Air program in the courtyard.
• Assigns and schedules residents on basis of needs, space and equipment
• Evaluates residents learning and adjust techniques accordingly
• Responsible for initial assessments, evaluations and progress notes under the guidance TR Director or Coordinating Manager related to their ability to use the computer.
• Independently or under supervision, conducts recreation (recreation participation) programs for residents
• Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting equipment according to policy and procedure

Trains new staff members on various soft ware techniques and adaptive devices available in the computer lab.

• Records attendance in Activity Pro as per department standards.
• Escorts residents to and from programs, maintains program and storage areas, and assists Activity Therapists and Supervisors in the completion of a variety of departmental tasks.
• Assist therapists on community trips.
• Conducts either group or individual 1 : 1 sensory stimulation leisure participation programs on resident units independently or under the supervision of either Activity Therapists or TR Management
• Organizes and maintains storage and program areas.
• Assist in implementing special projects to enhance the services of the department.
• Provide supervision for the Library, Computer lab, Resident Gym and Fresh Air program as needed.
• Works with Interdisciplinary team assisting in providing support and feedback related to residents participation
• Completes and submits resident Attendance Form as required.
• Records daily statistics into ActivityPro
• Participates in planning and implementation of special events.
• Can create and post publicity notifications for programs and special events.
• Decorates and maintain bulletin boards as assigned.
• Escorts residents to and from programs and special events.
• Oversees resident participation in Sports management informed of issues / supplies / equipment repair as resident adherence to prescription as directed.
• Attends departmental staff meeting, huddles and in- services. May be asked to conduct an in- service.

Follow all facility P&P for safety management, pain management and infection control.

Minimum Qualifications

1. One year of satisfactory experience as described in "Examples of Typical Tasks" in a hospital, health care or medical facility; or

2. One year of satisfactory experience in providing non-professional nursing or medical support services in a hospital, health care or medical facility and satisfactory completion of a training program responsive to the level of the prescribed duties. Also the following :

3. Ability to establish successful interpersonal relationships with patients and co-workers.

4. Good knowledge of methods and procedures used in applying rehabilitative, physical or occupational therapeutic treatment.

5. Good manual dexterity.

6. Ability to effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

Knowledge of MS applications.

Basic knowledge of Apple computer ie., operation and troubleshoot.

Knowledge of social media ie., Facebook, Instagram and other platform.

Knowledge on how to navigate the internet.

Knowledge on how to create an email account.

Bilingual preferred.
