Job Summary :

The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus employs 4,000 individuals, instructs over 16,000 students, and has a budget of $4 million.

Fiscal Compliance is responsible for ensuring the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus adheres to external laws, sponsor regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

The team works to promote strong financial management in order to avoid missteps that could have a negative impact for the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus.

The Fiscal Compliance team assesses risk and identifies potential gaps in the campus' internal control framework. We work closely with Schools, Colleges, Administrative units, and other stakeholders to identify solutions to any such gaps.

Key Responsibilities :

Internal Controls (70%)

  • Processes and reviews all requests from campus departments for gift cards / cash incentive, petty cash, and change funds and guides department requestors through the proper procedures for approval and purchases.
  • Reviews each request's internal control procedure, schedule audits related to petty cash, change fund, cash incentive and gift card accounts.
  • Provides training to department users on best practices of managing the accounts. If shortages or significant shortcomings in controls of a department's petty cash, gift cards or change funds surface, this position would advise the Compliance Team.
  • Work closely with the Compliance Team and campus department to address any issues and recommend ideas or best practices to the Supervisor to create efficient and effective process for gift cards / cash incentive, petty cash, and change funds.
  • Prepare a debarment report and coordinate with campus Employee Services and Office of Regulatory Compliance.

Finance Security Access (30%)

  • Review and process Finance Security Access form, grant security access requests, produce and review various access reports to include incompatible access.
  • Determine if access requests are appropriate, training has been completed and appropriate departmental approval has been granted.

Grant access to the Finance PeopleSoft and Marketplace systems accordingly.

  • Schedule training for the in-person training for new and current employees to attend training sessions to obtain security access to the applicable University systems and ensure training attendees are entered into HCM.
  • Notify departments of necessary training requirements for access; coordinate annual incompatible access recertification review to determine appropriate access changes.

Work Location :

This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. The number of days per week on campus will vary based on need for in-person meetings and audit schedule.

Qualifications : Minimum Qualifications : Entry Level :

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level :

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year of finance, accounting, business, compliance / auditing, or directly related experience.

Senior Level :

  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years of finance, accounting, business, compliance / auditing, or directly related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Prior experience at a Higher Education Institution or State of Colorado Agency.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • One year of auditing experience.
  • Experience working with finance, accounting or business information systems.

Anticipated Pay Range :

The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as :

Entry Level : $49,974 - $55,000 per year

Intermediate Level : $54,383 - $60,000 per year

Senior Level : $58,793 - $65,000 per year

The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
