Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a current IL RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department with 65 private beds and 2 trauma baysServe a diverse patient population from newborns to elderly with a wide range of medical emergencies and trauma casesTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-5 depending on acuity and department needsUtilizes EPIC for charting; prior EPIC experience preferred12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm), scheduled for three shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidaysNo on-call is required for travelersFloat assignments are rare but may occur as 'help all' support in other unitsSpecialized drips including vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications are frequently administeredUses Phillips monitors; orientation will be providedResponsibilities include patient assessment, administering medications and drips, responding to diverse emergencies, and collaborating with the trauma teamSupport structure includes charge nurses, ED techs, monitor techs, and respiratory therapistsOrientation consists of 12 hours prior to full assignmentNo specific scrub color, but scrubs must be tasteful with solid colored undershirtsHoliday and weekend coverage required on a rotational basisRadiology and transport staff are responsible for patient transports for X-ray / CTNo COVID-19 vaccination requirement for this assignmentLocal candidates within 50 miles are eligible at local ratesRequirements
Active IL RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years Emergency Department nursing experienceBLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNS certifications required and must be currentProficiency in titrating critical care drips, identifying life threatening rhythms, and providing care for critically ill patientsExperience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferredPrior travel assignment experience preferredSANE RN experience is preferred but not requiredBenefits
