Steps to Apply as a Substitute Teacher for BCSD :
1. In order to be eligible, you must first obtain your Sub Permit, register with the KCSOS office as a Sub Teacher, and be given a packet that says Congratulations, You are eligible to seek employment as a Subsitute Teacher in Kern County.
If you have the packet, you are ready to apply with our district. If you don’t have the packet, please visit the KCSOS office first so you can complete your preliminary paperwork.
2. You will need to attach paperwork to your application so make sure you have access to a scanner. If you don’t have access to a scanner you will need to provide COPIES of all the required documents to our office AFTER you submit your application online.
It’s in your best interest to keep the original copies of your paperwork so please make sure you provide the copies to us, we do not make copies for you.
3. Please attach the following paperwork from both sections in the "Other Documents" Section of your Application : KCSOS Paperwork : Your Own Paperwork : Valid Teaching Permit or Credential that includes the document
number and expiration date or your Current Temporary County
Certificate for KCSOS. Passing CBEST Results or Proof you have fulfilled the Basic Skills Requirement Form titled "Information Necessary for Sub Teaching" completed by KCSOS Transcripts showing a Bachelor's Degree or showing that you have semester units and currently enrolled in a 4 year university.

Copies of required certificates, transcripts or diplomas may be submitted with application. District may require that originals be presented for verification prior to employment.
Please check with Human Resources regarding acceptable documents. For positions requiring college course work official transcripts will be required upon employment.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to meet all application requirements and supply copies of all required documents. A separate set of paperwork is required for each application submitted.
