We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Higher Education industry based in LANSING, Michigan.
The position involves maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions efficiently
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records
- Maintain and manage the General Ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date
- Responsible for the preparation and posting of Journal Entries as part of the monthly close process
- Utilize QuickBooks for various accounting tasks and financial management
- Participate in Human Resources (HR) Administration tasks, including HR policy enforcement, recruiting, and onboarding
- Review and monitor customer accounts, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date
- Address and resolve customer inquiries related to their accounts
- Ensure all accounting practices align with the regulatory standards of the Higher Education industry
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve overall organizational goals.

- Possess knowledge and experience in Accounts Payable (AP)
- Familiar with Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
- Experience with Bank Reconciliations is necessary
- Proficiency in managing General Ledger
- Capable of preparing and recording Journal Entries
- Ability to handle Month End Close activities
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks software
- Experience in Human Resources (HR) Administration
- Knowledgeable about HR Policy
- Experience in Recruiting processes
- Familiarity with Onboarding procedures
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in business matters
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
