Overview
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) position is assigned to the Executive Team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
The CTO works with other executives, technical teams across the company, and external research and technology organizations to conceptualize and then assists in the development and implementation of new technologies for CIS customers.
The CTO plays an integral role in establishing the CIS technological vision, technical strategy, and technology-related plans for growth.
The CTO develops strategic plans for the evaluation, development, and deployment of technologies to support new CIS products and services.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a big picture thinker with a broad technical background, as well as excellent leadership, team building, communications, and management skills needed to build strong interpersonal relationships with technical peers and other senior management.

Salary Range : $260,000 - $320,000 + incentive bonusWe offer a competitive total rewards package at the Center for Internet Security :

What You'll Do
- Develop aspects of CIS’ technical strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
- Coordinate activities across the company from a technology perspective to ensure that CIS is taking full advantage of state-of-the-art technologies and products
- Act as a coordinator between multiple technical projects at CIS to ensure they align with overall business goals
- Maintain a strong technical understanding of all CIS products and services in order to ensure proper fitment with new technological initiatives and innovations
- Identify, access, and investigate innovative technologies possessing potential application for creating future products and security services for government and private sector organizations
- Manage CIS’ internal research and development (IR&D) program to include soliciting proposals, managing the selection process, and monitoring the execution of IR&D projects
- Help identify, qualify, and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
- Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to CIS’ technology strategy
- Establish partnerships and collaboration with technology providers as well as key partners
- Works across the organization to coordinate development of new solutions as well as enhance existing capabilities
- Encourages creative thinking among the CIS technical team and finds ways to nurture innovative thinking across all areas of the company
- Provides input into the technical development of the CIS staff, including mentoring high potential staff members and recommending developmental opportunities
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What You'll Need
- Master’s degree in a related technical field, with preference for an advanced degree in a technical area
- 10+ years of proven experience in IT and / or cybersecurity
- 5+ years of complex project or program management experience
- Proven experience researching, managing, and conducting analysis for technological solutions
- Experience leading, managing, coaching, and / or mentoring individuals and / or teams
- Demonstrated proficiency in IT program management, with proven ability to drive the successful execution of complex, large scale software initiatives
- Well-versed in Agile and DevSecOps methodologies
- Demonstrated experience operating as part of a leadership team that emphasizes collaborative decision making
- Demonstrated experience with budget process and business planning
- Strong knowledge of technological trends necessary to build strategy
- May be required to obtain a National Security Clearance
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

- PhD in a related technical field
