What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The fully salary range for this position is $19.
11 to $28.67. We anticipate the hiring range for this position to be $19.11 - $23.89 . We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to :

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment.
This position reports to our offices at 1200 N. Federal Boulevard in Denver three days a week and telecommutes remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

Denver Human Services is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Technician I for the Financial Services Division. The selected candidate will be a positive, detail-oriented person.

As an Accounting Technician I on the Payment Services team, you will be expected to :
Perform traditional accounts payable duties by reviewing a high volume of vendor invoices to ensure amounts are correctly billed, goods and services have been received, and appropriate approvals have been given.
Process approved invoices in a timely manner.
Process child welfare payments to foster care and adoption providers on a monthly basis
Identify, report, and resolve any billing discrepancies within the invoices swiftly and independently
Use a variety of data sources (state systems, city systems, databases) to assist with the reviewing and tracking of work products
Respond to inquiries from a variety of customers (internal and external) regarding payment information, status of direct deposits, contract questions, or any concerns that may be associated with these payments within 48 hours
Communicate with customers, city employees, and state employees regarding contracts and invoices
Cross-train with other employees in the Financial Services division
Process emergency need requests from the program area and correctly enter data into a variety of systems
Our ideal candidate will have :
Previous experience working in an office environment, preferably in a finance-related field
Experience in processing a high volume of accounts payable invoices
Experience with reviewing and approving payments in Trails, Colorado’s child welfare information system
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
Previous work in Human Services or within a government agency
Confident with using computers and learning new software systems
Ability to work independently under strict time constraints
Must be versatile and able to handle changing priorities
Proficient communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing
Positive and enthusiastic attitude

Education : Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience : Three (3) years of clerical experience, which includes One (1) year of experience performing financial recordkeeping
Education & Experience Equivalency : Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
