Duties
The Moraine Valley Community College Vice President of Administrative Services provides leadership and accountability for the areas of Campus Operations / Building and Grounds, Police Department, Sustainability, and shared responsibility for Risk Management Initiatives.
The Vice President fosters relationships with external partners and agencies. The Vice President is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities include :
1. Provide administrative direction for all reporting departments to achieve optimum levels of service to and for all college constituencies.
2. Oversee and approve policies, procedures, initiatives, and operational objectives to ensure that reporting departments function in accordance with the mission and policies of the college, including faculty and support staff labor agreements, and all applicable federal and state guidelines and regulations.
3. Oversee construction and capital projects to ensure conformance to approved timetables and budgetary allocations.4. Ensure that the Police Department provides appropriate protection of staff, students, visitors, and all college property through a certified, comprehensive security program utilizing qualified personnel.
5. Ensure that Campus Operations maintains all college buildings, grounds, and equipment in safe, attractive, and efficient condition.
Assures the availability of adequate power and utilities as needed as well as the establishment of back-up procedures for emergency situations.
6. Execute bids, review contracts, and manage contracted providers.7. Manage Sustainability projects and meets sustainability goals of the college.
8. Oversee the operations of the main campus site, two off-campus sites and external partners.9. Administer and manage the college’s risk management program in collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer for employee risk.
10. Serves as the primary contact to the college’s legal counsel and insurance carrier with collaboration with Human Resources and Finance for specific employee processes.
11. Direct and participate in the development of long-range planning for reporting departments and monitors progress toward established goals.
12. Direct and coordinate the preparation of annual staffing, expense, and capital budgets for reporting departments and oversees the administration of approved budgets.
13. Represent the college to external vendors, partners, and agencies on matters relating to areas of responsibility.14. Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and chairs / participates on all committees as appropriate and as requested.
15. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President. Education / Experience Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization, including Business Administration, Public Administration, and / or Higher Education Administration required.
Minimum five (5) years of experience at the senior management level, preferably in an educational setting, with direct responsibility for same or similar administrative services departments required.
