What do DentalHygienists do?
Dental Hygienistduties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings,cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising patients on oralhealth and preventative care.
You’ll help dentists decidetreatments for teeth or gum diseases. As a Dental Hygienist, youshould be reliable and able to build trust with patients of allages.
You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safetyrules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. If you have asteady hand and great bedside manner, we’d like to meetyou.
ResponsibilitiesInclude :
- Ensurepatients feel as comfortable as possible before theirexamination
- Sterilize dental instrumentsproperly
- Conduct initial mouth screenings andcheck oral health history
- Identify conditionslike gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
- Cleanand help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or applyfluoride)
- Educate patients of all ages onproper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushingtechniques)
- Give instructions to patients afteroperations or other dental procedures
- TakeX-rays or dental impressions
- Assist dentistswith selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases(including oral cancer)
- Maintain documentationand charts on each patient
- Monitorsupplies
Skills
- Provenexperience as Dental Hygienist or similarrole
- Dental Hygiene licenserequired
- In-depth knowledge of health andsafety regulations in this profession (e.g.HIPAA)
- Experience in preparing and maintainingdental equipment
- Outstanding communicationskills
- A patient and friendlypersonality
- Attention todetail
- Stamina to meet the physical demands ofthe job
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene(preferred)
