At Accurus Tulsa, our Processing Line Operators are responsible for coating parts to customer specifications. These operators prepare and rack / unrack parts, set up and operate the processing line equipment, and monitor the processing line.
The operators are responsible for monitoring tank levels and performing inspections of the equipment and the parts they are coating.
Careful attention to detail and complete safety & environmental procedure compliance are essential in this role.
Essential Functions

- Follows established work instructions and safety procedures including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and the use, storage, and disposition of hazardous materials
- Performs routine equipment inspections and immediately addresses leaks, spills, or other issues, escalating concerns to Supervisor and / or Maintenance personnel;
may perform and / or assist with preventive maintenance tasks or troubleshooting
- Prepares parts and sets up and operates machines to coat products; operates auxiliary machines or equipment used in coating processes
- Weighs or measures chemicals or coatings before adding them to machines; fills hoppers and tanks per specification and operating procedures;
starts pumps to mix solutions and fill tanks
- Performs test runs to ensure that equipment is set up properly
- Examines, measures, weighs, or tests sample products to ensure conformance to specifications
- Observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards
- Attaches and aligns machine parts such as rollers, guides, brushes, and blades using hand tools; attaches hoses or nozzles to machines and makes adjustments to obtain the proper functionality
- Determines coating quality by performing visual inspections to identify water break-free surface and burns, discolored areas, or other anomalies or defects
- Starts and stops machine operation, adjusts dials, handwheels, valves, or switches to regulate conveyor speeds, machine temperature, air pressure, and circulation, and the flow or spray of coatings
- Records operational data on specified forms and complies with quality standards and documentation requirements
- Threads or feeds items or products through or around machine rollers and dryers
- Removes materials, parts, or workpieces from racks using hand tools
- Transfers completed items or products from machines to drying or storage areas using handcarts, hand trucks, or cranes
- Cleans machines, related equipment, and work areas using water, solvents, and other cleaning aids
- Performs any other duties as required
- Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
Required Education and Work Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Two (2) years in a manufacturing role utilizing automated equipment is required
- Experience in anodizing, plating, or other similar metal coating / finishing is preferred
Other Required Skills and Abilities
- Experience reading & accurately interpreting shop blueprints, sketches, specifications, and other technical information / instructions is required
- Demonstrated basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fraction conversions)
- Experience using mics, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment is required
- Completion of assigned internal training for Operators and periodic retraining or recertification is required
- Capacity to operate in a consistently fast-paced production environment, meet deadlines, and adapt to unexpected disruptions and / or production schedule changes that are time-sensitive
Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations :
- Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, stand for long periods to perform job duties
- Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push / pull up to 100 pounds using peer assistance and / or other lifting & material-handling equipment
- Periodically lift overhead and carry, push / pull up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform duties
- Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
- Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
- Frequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts, tighten hardware & fixtures, and operate machine and material handling controls
- Accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards
- Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to :
- Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
- Dust, smoke, mist, fumes / vapors (regularly)
- Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
- Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (continually)
The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, respiratory protection (if applicable), and use of safety footwear is required
