Williamsburg House is a private residential sober living residence and program serving individuals struggling with substance use disorders (SUD) & other co-occurring mental health issues.
Founded in 2015, we are one of the most long-standing addiction recovery residences in New York City and our talented team is dedicated to creating daily positive change in the lives of our residents.
We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Recovery Coach / Case Manager to join our team in providing best-in-class care for our residents.
Schedule :
This full-time position is for approximately 36-40 hours a week and is an on-site role. The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule and can work a hybrid day, night & weekend schedule.
Position Overview :
As a member of the Williamsburg House Recovery Team, under the supervision of the Residence Director, you will provide compassionate, personalized, 1-on-1 client support through guidance, structure, accountability, and achievement of measurable goals.
The Recovery Coach / Case Manager helps remove personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, forges links to the recovery community, and serves as a personal guide and mentor in the management of personal and family recovery.
This vital role participates as part of a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary team collaborating to facilitate the achievement of the recovery and wellness goals of our residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assess and develop individualized recovery and wellness plans that facilitate a smooth transition back to work, home or school while carrying out the clinical team’s recommended continuing care plan.
- Coordinate care with all clinical treatment providers and relevant family members
- Assist in locating personal and recovery-based resources (ie. AA and NA meetings, sponsors, community, wellness and skills development, employment, etc.)
- Motivate residents and continually monitor and evaluate each resident’s progression through their case plan, and develop corrective action revisions to the plan as needed
- Monitor various testing reports (ie : toxicology screening) and adherence to schedules for residents and document results
- Communicate progress to families, treatment teams and management
- Provide 1-on-1 coaching and mentoring as necessary to residents as well as other case managers and staff
- Prepare case management related documentation and reports including but not limited to : attendance, progress, incidents, outcomes, etc
- Work as part of the shift team, carrying out program & residential duties
- Actively participate in or facilitate resident- and program-related meetings and activities, and foster. resident engagement in the house community.
- Attend program-related community, training and committee meetings as assigned.
- Adhere to strict boundaries and professional codes of ethics in the care of others.
- Conduct crisis intervention as needed.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field; OR equivalent combination of related education / work / lived experience
- Credentials : CARC, CRPA, CASAC-T or above, preferred
Work Experience :
- Minimum 2 years working in an addiction treatment or recovery setting is required.
- 1-2 years continuous experience working as a recovery coach or case manager with substance use / addiction clients
- Minimum 2 years experience navigating various recovery support programs (12-step, SMART, Refuge, etc.) for clients.
Additional Qualifications
- Direct experience working with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues, eating disorders, LGBTQ+, young adults, SLA, crisis intervention, and trauma informed care.
- Detailed knowledge and experience with the Stages of Recovery and the recovery treatment continuum detox, inpatient, intensive outpatient, sober living, aftercare, therapists.
- Understanding of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and other treatment approaches
- Possesses built-in network of recovery and wellness resources

- Strong ability to communicate effectively to a wide audience, including parents, clients and treatment professionals.
- Passion for helping individuals in recovery.
- Willingness to perform toxicology screening, CPR, emergency first aid, Naloxone, crisis prevention and de-escalation.
- Computer skills : proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Word & Excel), EMRs, communication & collaboration tools (ie.
G-suite, Dropbox, text, video chat), and other relevant software or mobile device-based applications.
Additional Details :
- This is a full-time, on-site position
- The compensation range is $25 - $30 an hour, depending on experience
