The Shipping Lead is responsible for accurately coordinating and executing shipping orders. Responsible for the proper handling of materials, adherence to safety procedures, and providing accurate, timely shipments to direct activities to meet the goals of the Company.

Key Responsibilities
- Leads and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
- Ensures efficient and timely start-up of daily shipping operations.
- Ensures department staffing is coordinated and aligned to match daily shipping requirements and optimize efficiencies.
- Coordinates loading of outbound shipments through Tiger outbound page to include printing required to pick tickets and assign orders to be pulled for shipment;
ensure correct loading of trucks through proper weight distribution.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping platform to storage and work areas
- Verifies and records accurately all items loaded for shipments per customer orders.
- Notifies supervisor of significant discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions and processes return shipments as necessary.
- Coordinates with Warehouse Manager regarding product rotation, space allocation and ensures first-in, first-out (FIFO) stock rotation is followed.
- Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated, and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
- Communicates with Production Managers on bulk product and inventory supplies.
- Addresses employee questions and concerns as they relate to the operation.
- Assists where needed to accomplish daily goals and requirements.
- Ensures all Shipping employees are trained in and adhere to all SQF guidelines and company safety rules.
- Coordinates training of new and existing employees to minimize downtime and product damage.
- Maintains radio communication with other departments / employees for safety and to achieve efficiency of operations.
- Communicates, administers, and enforces company rules, policies, and procedures consistently and equitably through timely, tactful feedback.
- Assigns order to pickers and loaders to loads and other assignments as necessary.
- Processes RMA’s, including inventory counts and Tiger inventory adjustments
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs other duties assigned by management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING :
- High school diploma, or equivalent required
- Minimum of three (3+) years’ of experience required
- State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY :
- Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received
- Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports
