Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, the Director of Accounting will be integral in overseeing the activities of the corporate and global accounting department for the accurate and timely preparation and dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to (i)internal monthly financial statements and management reporting to our SEC Parent Company;
ii) technical accounting research; (iii) implementation and management of internal controls; as well as (iv) assisting with special projects.
The Director of Accounting will ensure appropriate metrics are in place to manage business risks and improve decision making;
ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard Jazwares and improve operations. Also, the Director of Accounting will ensure oversight of accounting and reporting governance.
What you'll be doing :
- Provide leadership in our global and corporate accounting and compliance function to ensure operating in a strategic, compliant, and sophisticated manner.
- Ability to understand complex accounting transactions and provide guidance to staff members.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, to build a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and accountability.
- Review and approve key month-end close activities and account reconciliations with a focus on cash, inventory, and customer accruals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory management processes.
- Coordinate and oversee annual audits, including financial statement audits and tax audits.
- Continuously review opportunities to improve the financial reporting process to enhance efficiency, accuracy and transparency.
- Ad-hoc special projects either from Senior Leadership, Partners and / or the Board of Directors.
What we look for :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance required
- Master's degree preferred
- CPA required
- 10+ years of both public accounting and private experience in a management function
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Commitment to professional development and staying current on accounting trends and best practices.
- Demonstrated skills in prioritizing strict deadlines, problem solving, project management
and completion
- Must be a "hands-on" performer.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with Blackline and Sage X3 preferred.
