Summary
Under the direction of the project Superintendent, the Apprentice Laborer performs a variety of physical tasks during all phases of construction projects.
Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
- Load or unload construction materials.
- Put together and take apart temporary structures, such scaffolding.
- Help equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled labor when necessary.
- Assist management and subcontractors to ensure site is safe, including installing temporary lighting and removing trash and construction debris.
- Works with management to interpret plans, instructions and specifications to determine work activities.
- Controls traffic passing near, in and around work zones as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic understanding of construction processes
Skills
- Read, write and communicate fluently in the English language
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Ability to work in all weather
- Understand construction industry terminology
- Work cooperatively with variety of personality types
- Cooperate positively as a team member
- Represent the company and conduct self with the highest levels of professionalism, honesty and integrity in all situations
Work Environment
- Perform job duties in a professional environment on a construction site
- Routinely use general housekeeping and maintenance tools essential to construction operations
- Regularly traverse project sites, including the interior and exterior of buildings, while under construction
- This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Early mornings and occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Periodically travel to company office
- Travel to other construction job sites on as-needed basis
- The physical demands of this position include considerable use of hands, arms and legs for reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and ladders, to operate hoist equipment, speaking, hearing, seeing and lifting and moving up to 25 pounds (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential physical functions)
- Follow all safety requirements related to the performance of assigned duties including the handling and operating of company provided tools and equipment
