Our work depends on a Cloud Engineer joining our team as a member of the client’s Cyber Consulting Team, specializing in providing guidance and support to the client’s Cyber and Cloud technology program(s).
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to :
- Recommend the most effective methods of securely configuring new and existing Cloud services in the customers environment.
- Develop Cloud configurations to be hosted on GITHUB and available for use by project teams using terraform or native cloud vendor scripting services.
- Recommend rules for detecting and alerting on Cloud configurations.
- Collaborate with Cloud vendors to include Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, and Google to review the security features of service offerings.
- Assess and recommend Cloud resources and identify policies for the enterprise across the major Cloud vendors.
HOW A CLOUD ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- You will consult with customer / clients regarding the most effective methods of securely configuring new and existing Cloud services (across multiple vendors) in the customer’s environment.
- In addition, you will plan, prepare, and execute tests against Cloud services / technologies used to secure systems and reduce cyber risk.
You will coordinate with stakeholders across the organization to identify and clarify specifications, requirements, and performance measures, leveraging your engineering expertise to document and codify use cases for mission partners and collaborates with service providers to ensure solutions meet the operational needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes customer requirements and provides highly innovative technical expertise on cloud computing techniques and related cloud architectures.
- Identifies the vulnerabilities and risks associated with Cloud misconfigurations, particularly with respect to systems processing extremely sensitive data.
- Helps to define and update Cloud security standards / requirements necessary to minimize the risks associated with Cloud misconfigurations.
- Assists with establishing an approach to monitoring compliance with specific Cloud security standards of systems in the Cloud.
- Develops scripts, terraform files, and / or Cloud Development Kits (CDK) to assist project teams with an automated means to implement and validate Cloud configuration standards.
- Reviews and analyzes Cloud configuration compliance data to inform risk remediation and / or risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintains current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.
- Provides expert guidance and leadership to less experienced cloud development personnel.
- May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)
- May consult with executives and customers to deliver complex cloud development solutions.
- Recognized as a subject matter expert in cloud technology.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED :
- Education : Technical training, Certification(s) and / or Degree (Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.)
- Required Experience : 10+ years related
- Required Technical Skills :
- Demonstrated experience with one or more Cloud vendors and their native services / environments (Amazon, Microsoft, Google and / or Oracle)
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise cybersecurity management platforms.
- Required Skills and Abilities :
- Demonstrated experience engineering and deploying IT capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide triage effectively and independently, and problem resolution for technical issues.
- Demonstrated record of sound judgment and problem-solving skills necessary to make recommendations to Customer management.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of information security policies and regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Security Clearance Level : TS / SCI w / Polygraph

- Proven experience communicating effectively with a variety of business partners and customers and have a demonstrated capacity to develop effective interpersonal relationships;
- strong analytic and organization skills; self-starting skills; the ability to work effectively and independently, with little direction;

- Demonstrated experience with implementation and assessment of security controls that support authorization and accreditation processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the NIST Risk Management Framework.
- Demonstrated experience with Cross Domain Systems
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Recommended Certifications :
- AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and / or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, CCSP, CCSK, CISSP
- Location : Herndon, VA customer site

The likely salary range for this position is $184,662 - $313,914. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
