TNT supports a range of engaging community activities, Jewish holiday celebrations, and lifecycle events. We have a full-time staff of 13 with 95 employees overall, a $4.

2M annual budget, a 2.3 acre lot with a 25,000 square foot building, a preschool with 100 students, a K-12 religious school with 400 students, and 125 annual programs with hundreds of individual gatherings per year.

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic Executive Director to join the senior leadership team at Temple Ner Tamid. We are entering a new era at our shul, and seek a leader who will join clergy, staff, and lay leaders in sacred partnership to allow Temple Ner Tamid to continue to enrich our congregants’ Jewish lives.

Reporting directly to the President of the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director partners with the Board, oversees office staff and collaborates closely with Clergy to implement the vision for the Temple Ner Tamid community as set forth by the Board of Trustees.

The Executive Director will ensure the synagogue’s mission and goals are met efficiently and effectively.

The Executive Director will establish and maintain an environment in which the clergy and Board of Trustees can meet congregants’ religious, spiritual, social, and community needs.

The Executive Director will help create and maintain an atmosphere that is warm, welcoming, inviting, and secure for congregants, visitors, and staff.

The Executive Director will serve as the central administrator for the temple and, as such, will be responsible for the overall management and administration of Temple Ner Tamid.

This includes day-to-day management and oversight of financial and business functions, building and facilities, staff oversight and human resources, programming, internal and external communications, as well as structuring the organization for future, sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities :

Temple Office Management : Oversee day-to-day business operations; ensure efficient and effective administrative support for all synagogue functions;

implement and oversee operational policies and procedures; maintain and improve audio visual technology systems.

Accounting and Financial Oversight : Work with the VP of Finance to develop and monitor annual and departmental budgets;

ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards; oversee payroll and benefits administration. Creatively envision new revenue streams including writing and securing grants as well as seeking out cost-saving opportunities.

Human Resources and Staff Leadership : Manage part-time and full-time staff, ensure appropriate hiring and labor practices, and administer personnel procedures and standards.

Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to establish and enforce policies and procedures. Serve as direct supervisor for the Director of Shoresh Preschool and the Director of Operations and Events, and co-supervise the Director of Youth and Family Education.

Building and Facilities Oversight : Hire and oversee maintenance and custodial staff to ensure the synagogue’s facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained;

coordinate maintenance schedules and address any facility-related issues promptly in concert with the Board.

Synagogue Events : Collaborate with clergy, staff, and volunteers to coordinate and oversee support for all synagogue events, including religious services, holiday celebrations, community programs, and fundraising initiatives;

manage staffing and event logistics, including scheduling, setup, and communication with participants and congregants.

Communications and Membership Engagement : Partner with the VP of Communications on overall strategy to onboard, engage, and retain congregants;

oversee the creation and distribution of the weekly newsletter; maintain and update the synagogue’s website with current information and events.

Security : Manage the safety and security of everyone on the TNT campus, in collaboration with the Board and security committee;

manage security protocols and procedures, work directly with contractors and local law enforcement; research, recommend, and implement short- and long-term physical security improvements and solutions, including researching and applying for security grants.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in related field a plus.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable leadership and management experience in a not-for-profit organization with engaged volunteer leadership, ideally in a Jewish congregation or organization.
  • Strong financial acumen and demonstrated experience in budgeting and fiscal management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing teams and supervising multiple staff with a foundational understanding of HR rules and policies.
  • Ability to oversee the operations and maintenance of the physical plant and the Temple’s technology systems.
  • A understanding and respect for the values, practices, and traditions of Reform Judaism and a desire to work in this synagogue environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation :

  • Anticipated salary range $110K-$145K; final compensation commensurate with experience.
  • The position also enjoys benefits including health care, retirement plan, paid vacation, family leave, synagogue membership, and a reduction in preschool tuition if requested.
