Position Purpose
The Controller plays a vital role in supporting the Chief Accounting Officer by overseeing the Accounting Department and managing the organization’s financial activities.
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulations, and optimizing financial processes.
The Controller will contribute to the overall financial strategy of the organization and assist in the development of financial policies and procedures.
Key Competencies :
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial assets.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and excellence in financial practices.
This position ensures that financial management aligns with the organization’s goals, promoting efficient resource use and supporting sustainable growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the Accounting Department and its personnel, providing key financial insights to support the President and CEO in strategic decision-making regarding the organization’s financial status.
- Directly supervise the Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager, and A / P Manager; indirectly oversee the entire accounting staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Manage accounts payable and payroll functions, implementing automation to enhance vendor payments and improve customer experience.
- Manage month-end close processes, financial reporting, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Department of Education SFA Title IV regulations and ensure accounting systems comply with all applicable laws and standards for accrual-based record-keeping.
- Assist in implementing new technologies and processes to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs across financial operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and budgets.
- Foster collaborative relationships with other departments to effectively manage accounts receivable, including billings and cash receipts applications.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of financial processes and enhance organizational value.
- Engage in various special projects and compile reports to support organizational initiatives.
- Communicate courteously and professionally with co-workers, management, campuses, and other departments.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Uphold a high level of confidentiality in all financial matters.
- Perform other finance-related duties as requested by the President, CEO, or Chief Accounting Officer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on managerial experience in accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll software, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong skills in general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax reporting.
- Ability to organize and document procedures in a clear and methodical manner.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy; adept at problem analysis and resolution.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment; strong leadership skills are essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for overnight business trips.

What We Offer
The salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $130,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Eligible employees may qualify for a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of their annual base salary, contingent upon meeting key performance metrics and company goals In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including :
