We play an integral role in food and product safety for industry-leading producers, as well as family-run operations much like our own.
Our lab location in Niles, Illinois is hiring a full-time Food Testing Laboratory Microbiologist. (40 hours / week plus benefits included).
We offer a competitive salary based on knowledge and experience. This position includes full health benefits for self and family (employer pays for 100% of employee premiums and 50% of dependents on our base plan).

Compensation : Starting hourly rates $20 - $22 D.O.E. plus a competitive benefits package.
Shift Available : Sunday - Thursday; Tuesday - Saturday from 9am - 5 : 30pm(Close)
The Microbiologist Level 1 is fully versed in all technical aspects of the laboratory including Bench Reading. This individual serves as our internal ambassador to our clients, as they routinely deliver In-Process Service Calls, and answer client questions.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Must be able to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in position held.
- Performs all operations pertaining to Sample Login / Weight-out / Setup, Transfers, Streaks, ELISA & PCR Rapids, is fully versed in Bench Reading and has a familiarity of the Media & Autoclave Room operations.
- Performs Service Calls to clients for in-process and finished test results. Also answers client questions and will refer client to Technical Services Managers for questions they cannot (or should not) answer.
- Adheres to all current Quality Management Systems.
- Fills in for the other Departments including Media and Autoclave Room (dishwashing) as needed.
- Performs tests in a timely manner, sufficient for the prompt release of results to the client.
- Ensures work areas are kept properly cleaned and sanitized and assists with overall lab sanitation when needed.
- Washing Laboratory dishware as well as other housekeeping and janitorial duties
- Ensures appropriate gowning procedures are always employed.
- Performs on the spot re-training of associates, as needed; deviations noticed from improper technique results in the test being re-done.
- Aids the Lab Manager in any way needed, or as directed.

- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in (Food) Microbiology, Biology, or related science field is preferred and / or 0-5 years of experience in a related field, such as working in a (food) microbiology laboratory in the past.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements :
- Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process.
- Extended time spent in a standing position.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally and 10 15lbs repeatedly.
