Will be required to work some nights and weekends. Job Description NKU Campus Recreation is seeking qualified applicants for graduate assistantships in the areas of Competitive Sports, Facilities, Fitness and Membership Services.

These positions were created to assist with the program and facility management of the Campus Recreation Center and provide leadership opportunities.

Graduate Assistants are expected to be available to work some nights and weekends. These are 10-month positions beginning in August ending in May, with an option for summer employment.

Graduate Assistant positions are one-year appointments, which are evaluated at the end of the first year to be renewed for subsequent years.

Graduate Assistants must have completed a Bachelor's degree and been accepted into a graduate program at NKU meeting the minimum qualifications, which vary, depending on the program selected.

The successful candidates will be paid $13.25 / hr bi-weekly for up to 20 hours per week with the exception of university holidays and closures (approximately $10,000) with an option for summer employment.

Graduate Assistants will receive full tuition based on their selected NKU Graduate program (Graduate Assistants are responsible for paying fees each semester and must remain in good academic standing to maintain assistantship).

Hiring for Spring 2025; Interviews will begin October 2024. Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of NKU Campus Recreation Center (CRC), including facility entry, equipment check-out, and facility set-ups
  • Serve as Student Facility Manager of Campus Recreation Center
  • Implement appropriate risk management plans for CRC operations. Coordinate Emergency Action Plans while on duty
  • Manage activities on CRC daily schedule. Ensure that facility spaces are properly set up for classes and programs
  • Resolve patron facility use and equipment check-in issues
  • Provide onsite supervision for special events. Assist reservation groups with entrance, set-up, and utilization of facility
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and needs with Facility Coordinator, Facility and Aquatics Coordinator, and Associate Director for Facilities
  • Maintain active inventory of daily check-out items and facility assets
  • Interact with facility users to provide for a positive customer service and effective policy enforcement
  • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling and developing approximately 50 student facility employees
  • Assist in development and mentorship of approximately 12 student Facility Managers
  • Assist in payroll and budget recording procedures following departmental and university guidelines
  • Responsible for some late night, evening, and weekend oversight of CRC
  • Assist with CPR, and monthly trainings for all Campus Rec Staff. In consultation with other staff members, establish an annual calendar of classes to meet departmental needs Qualifications
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be responsible and reliable.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
