Overview We are currently looking for a full-time Instructional Designer / Technologist. The Instructional Designer / Technologist position is an on-campus role within the Instructional Support Department at Sullivan University. Members of the Instructional Support Team (IST) play a vital role in enhancing the quality and accessibility of academic courses across various delivery formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online. This position requires close collaboration with faculty subject matter experts to design engaging instructional materials that adhere to university standards, accessibility guidelines, and best practices in instructional design. The Instructional Designer / Technologist provides technical support for the Learning Management System (LMS), offers tailored consultations to faculty, and contributes to professional development initiatives. Successful candidates will possess a combination of technical proficiency, instructional design expertise, strong customer service skills, and emotional intelligence to support a dynamic academic environment.
Responsibilities Regularly collaborate with university faculty subject matter experts to design and create engaging and accessible learning materials.
Ensure that course objectives, assessments, and instructional materials align with university standards, accessibility standards, and best practices in instructional design.
Provide technical support to faculty and students for the learning management system.
Provide tailored consultation services to faculty members for their instructional and technical needs, including troubleshooting and LMS training.
Participate in the development and delivery of professional development workshops and the curation of instructional support and training materials for faculty.
Create courses in various delivery formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
Conduct annual reviews of courses with faculty experts to ensure alignment with university standards, accessibility, and industry requirements.
Participate in a weekly rotating schedule providing after-hours LMS support to students.
Monitor faculty and student e-mailboxes and help desk systems for support inquiries.
Log all faculty and students' support inquiries and resolutions using established data collection products.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field
A minimum of three years of relevant experience; higher education or similar academic environment preferred.
A combination of education and work experience is considered.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently.
Knowledge of instructional design models (i.e., ADDIE, SAM, UbD)
Knowledge of instructional design best practices for developing courses across various modalities.
Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., ADA) applicable to online training products.
Proficiency in using and supporting Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard ULTRA preferred).
Experience with multimedia tools and technologies used in course development (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365).
Basic knowledge of HTML for editing and troubleshooting web-based instructional content.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
Ability to adjust to changing workflow priorities when needed.
Ability to sit for extended periods.
