The Registered Nurse / Inpatient Diabetic Educator provides assessment, planning, facilitation, and advocacy for optimal clinical and financial outcomes.
In collaboration with the attending practitioner, the family and other members of the health care team, coordinates the individualized plan of care and communicates the plan to appropriate stakeholders.
The Registered Nurse / Inpatient Diabetic Educator assists with appropriate use of resources both within the facility and external to the facility.
Communication and collaboration may include coordinating admissions with referring facilities and providers, utilization review, discharge planning, transportation, and care coordination.
The Registered Nurse / Inpatient Diabetic Educator ensures that high quality care is provided as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.
Education / Experience
BSN degree with a minimum of four years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics. OR MSN degree with a minimum of three years recent nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics.
Will Consider : ADN degree with a minimum of five years recent nursing experience; a minimum of 3 years in pediatric subspecialty preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and / or Registries
- Current RN License in the State of Alabama.
- Current BLS certificate required, BLS Instructor preferred.
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification required or must obtain within 2 years.
