Summary : Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties with a degree of proficiency and / or independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Demonstrated proficiency within shipping, receiving or distribution environment
- Reads work order or pick tickets or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be picked, moved, or processed.
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs banding and stretch wrapping to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information or cases or containers.
- Packs and prepares cartons for shipping to customers.
- Ensures accuracy or order and security of packaging to avoid damage in shipment.
- Able to operate all power industrial vehicles (PIVs) including pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck, among others on a regular basis or perform the entry level tasks in the crating department including the ability to use all the machinery and equipment in the crate shop and assemble crates.
- Able to meet quality and productivity deliverables.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 3 years of related experience and / or training in the following : using hand tools, power saws, chop saw and measurement tools, operating PIVs (industrial vehicles)and in a shipping and receiving setting.
