Position Overview : The HSE Coordinator is crucial in ensuring the safety of our workforce and maintaining regulatory compliance within our industrial operations.
This role is responsible for upholding the highest safety standards and adhering to state, federal, local, and customer regulations.
The ideal candidate will lead initiatives, meticulously plan, and seamlessly execute a range of health, safety, and environmental programs, all aimed at fostering a safe workplace and ensuring our air permit remains fully compliant.
Responsibilities :
Conduct comprehensive safety orientation training for all new employees, including contractors, to ensure seamless integration into our safety culture.
Perform daily safety inspections of all plant departments, supplemented by formal monthly audits to ensure strict compliance.
Lead investigations into all accidents, incidents, and near-miss occurrences, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
Manage annual training sessions on essential topics such as Hazard Communication (GHS), Lock-Out / Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, Forklift Safety, and Working at Heights, ensuring full compliance.
Proactively address and correct unsafe behaviors to mitigate potential risks and maintain our safety standards.
Collect and maintain data to support our air permit and ensure regulatory compliance.
Continuously update and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect the latest safety protocols and industry best practices.
Facilitate engaging and informative training sessions to empower employees with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain a safe working environment.
Establish and oversee safety committees in both NC & AL locations, promoting collaboration and collective efforts toward a safer workplace.
Qualifications :
3-5 years of experience in safety program management.
Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or currently pursuing one.
Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulations.
Proficient in cross-functional collaboration across various organizational levels.
Thorough knowledge of OSHA compliance standards.
Effective coaching and mentoring skills.
Exceptional planning and presentation capabilities.
Proven track record in enforcing OSHA regulations through meticulous record-keeping and violation reporting.
Familiarity with SWPPP and environmental reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications :
Proven track record in continuous improvement initiatives.
ASP or CSP certification.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.
Certification in OSHA 30 (General Industry).
Additional experience in refractory / steelmaking.
Experience in a union environment.
Pay Details : $75, to $85, per year
