About the Company and Overview of the Role :
Our new client has been a staple in the construction industry for many years. Due to growth, they are hiring a Controller to work in their office in Baltimore, MD.
This person will work with a small, tight knit team.
- This company is in GROWTH mode! They are looking to continue the upward trend and hire a highly experienced construction Controller to work in their fast paced environment on a contract to hire basis
- This position will begin immediately after an interview for the selected candidate
- Position is 100% in office in Baltimore city
- Hours are typically 8am-4 : 30pm Monday-Friday
Controller Job Duties :
- Complete new project set up and enter project budgets into accounting system
- Perform month end close including monthly account reconciliations for all bank accounts, creating WIP, and entering all necessary journals to close each period
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly closing schedule
- Assist with creation of the annual budget and provide monthly reporting on budget variances
- AR duties to include : contract review for requisition requirements, oversee invoice processing, preparing AIA requisitions, and handling collections activities for clients
- Process and review weekly payroll
- Review and analyze job cost reporting and budgets and evaluate potential risks
- Meet monthly with project managers to review financials
- Audit and provide reporting and evaluation on project financials at completion of each project
- Manage weekly cash flow and develop and provide projections of revenue and cash flow to executive leadership
- Ensure internal controls are in place
- Work with outside CPA firm to review financial statements and tax returns
Qualifications for the Controller :
- Bachelors in Accounting required, Masters in Accounting preferred
- 7+ years' accounting experience at the senior level within the construction industry
- Experience using Sage Timberline required. Experience with Procore highly preferred
- Supervisory experience required
