You will be based in one of our offices in Central America as part of our Game-based Innovations Lab (GBIL). Remote locations are welcome.
GBIL’s technical team is made up of data scientists, learning scientists, game designers, and developers. Each person brings a love of finding and solving problems.
We work together with product and design experts to develop games for learning, assessment, and measurement.
All GBIL team members demonstrate strong communication skills and work relentlessly to get in sync. A successful candidate to GBIL will be low ego, highly independent problem solver who can advocate for their approach to solving a problem but not at the expense of derailing the larger goal.
In this role, you will build, test, update, and deploy secure backend web services using Python, Typescript, container technologies, and Kubernetes.
You will write SQL queries, perform data migrations, and craft tools for CI and automation. You will develop new and extend existing applications to run securely and at scale in the cloud.
You will support troubleshooting issues in live products and develop solutions to monitor application health.
You will secure implementations and mitigate vulnerabilities and take ownership of your work over the complete software development lifecycle, from documentation, design, and prototyping, to test, implementation, and production deployment.
- 5+ years of relevant full-time professional experience
- Expert in Python; experience with web frameworks like Flask or FastAPI are a plus
- Expert in container orchestration and technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, EKS from the ground up, including configuration, development, update and deployment in AWS EKS or Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of full-stack web development and common frameworks such as Python, Ruby, or Node.js
- Experience working with relational or non-relational databases
- Experience with cloud services such as those offered through AWS such as AWS Kinesis
- Experience architecting systems and selecting technologies to underpin web services
- Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
- Very strong ability to work under competing priorities and manage expectations effectively
- Ability to manage own professional development and contribute to functional knowledge building
