Position Summary
Huron Consulting Group is seeking an experienced privacy attorney to lead Huron’s global privacy program, practices and strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant data protection regulations, and fostering a culture of privacy across the organization.

- Reports to : Corporate VP, Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer
- Supports : The Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Security will work closely with legal, compliance, IT, security, and business units to mitigate risks and protect sensitive data while supporting the company’s growth and innovation goals.
Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities :
- Oversee Huron’s privacy program that aligns with the company’s business objectives and complies with applicable laws, including GDPR, CCPA, India DPDPA, HIPAA, and other domestic and global data protection regulations.
- Create, update, and enforce privacy and data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines across the organization.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on all matters relating to global data privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity law, providing practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice on these matters.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant privacy laws and regulations, driving the resolution of privacy risks / issues, including by escalating key issues to leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Regularly partner with cross-functional teams including IT (Governance, Risk & Compliance), legal, compliance, HR and other teams on matters of privacy and data protection.
- Respond to privacy-related incidents, inquiries, and data subject access requests and advise internal stakeholders on response and remediation best practices.
- Advise on data governance, data mapping, retention, and disposal practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Provide legal guidance on compliance with HIPAA, including data governance requirements, protection of PHI, HIPAA Privacy Rule, Security Rule and Breach Notification Rule.
- Advise on, review and draft privacy and data protection terms in client and vendor agreements.
- Develop and deliver privacy and data protection training.
- Provide advice and counsel to Huron businesses on privacy, security, cybersecurity and related data protection issues.
- Advise on broad range of issues of first impression regarding AI, particularly the intersection of AI and privacy and data protection.
- Provide oversight to outside counsel handling privacy and data security matters.
- Support company-wide compliance and legal initiatives and activities.
Qualifications / Desired Experience :
- Deep understanding of global privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Experience with privacy frameworks, such as GDPR, CCPA, DPDPA, and others, including HIPAA.
- Minimum of four to six (4-6) years of experience in privacy and data protection. In-house experience considered a plus.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Superior ability to relate at all seniority levels among our internal clients and external counsel.
- Highly motivated, strategic, detail-oriented with the ability to pro-actively organize a heavy workload and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities.
- Experience understanding and interpreting requirements of multi-jurisdictional and global organizations.
- Capacity to make timely and informed decisions under time constrained and / or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally across the enterprise, including across legal, compliance, IT, security, and the industries and capabilities teams.
- Ability to work quickly and independently, with minimal supervision.
- High ethical standards, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Undergraduate and law degree (J.D.) required, with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- CIPP / US, CIPP / E, CIPM, or other relevant certifications desirable.
- Digital fluency across multiple platforms, including Microsoft Office.

The estimated base salary range for this job is $150,000 - $215,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting.
The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy.
Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $180,000-$268,750.
The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs.
The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
