Language Access Coordinator Salary EXEMPT : $64,700-$70,000 a year Location and Schedule This is a remote position. Normal operating hours are M-F, 8 : 30AM-4 : 30PM (CST).

Job Type : Full time FLSA Status : Exempt Shift : Day Travel Required : Occasional, 10-15% Summary This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of an interpreter pilot program, maintaining a current directory of Indigenous language interpretation and translation agencies, coordinating organizational needs for contracted work with interpretation and translation agencies, developing capacity-building tools for NCFH staff and partner organizations around language access and language justice, and creating and delivering language access trainings.

Qualifications, Education and Licensing / Certification Required : A professional level of knowledge in language access and language justice at the educational / experiential equivalent of a Bachelor's degree program in anthropology, public health, linguistics, public policy, or other related education or practical work experience, preferably in a migrant health / farmworker environment, Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.

At least two (2) years of relevant experience in language access or language justice work A high level of written and verbal communication, including public speaking and presentation skills Preferred : Strongly prefer candidates that speak Mesoamerican Indigenous languages or are familiar with Mexican and Central American Indigenous populations Essential Duties and Responsibilities Language Access / Language Justice Programs Coordination Lead planning and implementation of one year pilot project : Low-Frequency Language Community Interpreter Program (low-frequency languages include languages such as Mesoamerican Indigenous languages, Afrikaans, Haitian Creole, etc.

Develop solicitation for bids to identify a subcontractor to create a 20-40 hour community interpreter training program with an emphasis on public health and workplace health and safety;

manage relationship with identified subcontractor to ensure deliverables are completed on needed timelines. Collaborate with the National Outreach Services Manager to create process for identifying farmworker community members who reside in communities of NCFH network partners and speak low-frequency languages (e.

g., Mesoamerican Indigenous languages, Afrikaans, Haitian Creole, etc.) and prepare the community members to participate in the community interpreter training program, and support community members before, during, and immediately after completion of the training program.

Conduct all training follow-up activities, including promoting new interpreter services in communities, supporting new interpreters, evaluating the training program, and responding to CDC (funder) requests for information about the program.

Leads coordination of internal translation and interpretation for NCFH teams working on data collection, health education material development, and farmworker training & engagement.

Maintains directory of lndigenous language interpretation and translation agencies Works with NCFH teams to coordinate requests for interpreters and translation of materials into multiple languages and manages all aspects of relationships with subcontracted interpretation / translation agencies Leads NCFH staff on internal translation team and coordinates requests for translation of materials in Spanish and English.

Leads work around language data collection, monitoring, and analysis among farmworkers in the U.S. Works with Research and Outreach teams to collect and analyze data about languages and language varieties spoken among farmworkers in the U.

S.; conducts research to understand language varieties spoken among farmworkers Maintains and updates farmworker language map & develops new tools as needed for NCFH, partners, and funders regarding languages spoken among farmworkers Language Access Training & Technical Assistance Works closely with Population Health Training Manager and National Outreach Services manager to assess and create training content or resources for NCFH staff and NCFH partners / clients around language access, language justice, and low-frequency languages.

Conduct presentations / trainings / webinars as requested. Lead responses to requests for consultations or technical assistance from NCFH partner / clients around language access, language justice, and low-frequency languages.

Conducts presentations and training at state, regional and national conferences. Other Participates in a Strategic Planning Task Force.

Participates in field data collection efforts and farmworker outreach / engagement efforts, as time allows. Nature and Method of Work Work is professional-level, requiring application of professional theory and practice.

Duties are generally performed independently, with priorities and work plans developed by the employee's manager and monitored periodically.

Communication with individuals and various organizations is extensive. The employee's work involves the direction of programs that can promote the visibility and goodwill of the organization, and other work involves the potential for improvements to the organization's practices.

Requires management of external subcontractors and assuring that subcontractors complete work in a timely manner. Physical Ability and Work Environment The employee is regularly required to perform work duties at an onsite office / designated home workspace for extended periods of time with communication through virtual platforms (Asana and Microsoft Teams).

The employee must have the ability to use a computer and other office tools with accuracy. The noise level is usually low to moderate.

Leadership and Supervision Employee receives general supervision from the Population Health Training Manager. The employee does not provide direct supervision to other staff.
