Job Title : Senior Project Manager, Collaboratives
Organization
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, the Bureau of Indian Education, and five U.
S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. CCSSO seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day management of CCSSO's Collaboratives, working with the Senior Director, Collaboratives, Collaboratives Team, Finance Team, Meetings Team, Strategy Team, and consulting experts.
- Strategy
- Support the Senior Director of Collaboratives to create a community for excellence around implementing best-in-class professional learning for state education agency leaders.
- Identify promising practices across the Collaboratives and draw out examples for compelling stories, narratives, and testimonials.
- Lead information-gathering projects to support content delivery planning for advisors and members.
- Lead special projects at the direction of the Collaboratives Senior Director, such as drafting sample evaluation tools and providing suggestions for process and programmatic improvements.
- Build upon lessons learned from the current Collaboratives systems and initiate a planning process to innovate programming and operating structures.
- Share learnings more broadly across the field, including representing CCSSO with relevant education organizations; speaking at conferences;
writing and disseminating research compendia, policy briefs, and case studies; and supporting the work of our research partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Leadership and Supervision
- Support day-to-day management of CCSSO's Collaboratives, including working with the Senior Director of Programs and others to ensure compliance and coherence across the organization.
- Coordinate both internally with relevant Council staff and externally with consultants to ensure transparent communication about Council priorities.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop an effective publications plan for the Collaboratives.
- Support learning across states by identifying common needs and planning activities, including designing webinars and supporting convenings.
- Ensure agenda and support development processes for all Collaboratives incorporates appropriate feedback from Council colleagues.
- Supervise two team members to support the successful execution of the Collaboratives program.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Collaboratives internally and collaborate with teams across the Council.

- Operational Management
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate staff.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the program team.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, required documents, and presentations.

- Collaboratives Budget Account : 100%
Travel for this position is approximately 15%. This is a mostly remote position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred plus a minimum of seven (7) years' work experience, with 5+ years of project management experience.
- Master's degree a plus.
- Knowledge and / or experience in education policy with SEA experience desired.
- 3+ years in a supervisory role, with experience managing or supervising in a remote environment preferred.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate ideas.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment and interest in working with K-12 educational issues in a non-profit setting.
- Highly developed verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to the goals of the CCSSO's Collaboratives and the overall mission and vision of the Council.
- Presentation skills including developing a presentation and delivering it.
- The ability to facilitate meetings.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal supervision.
- The ability to work within a team and also take individual responsibility for high-level tasks.
- The ability to make decisions and complete tasks under tight deadlines.
Technical Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have created or used charts, spreadsheets, and databases.
Successful incumbents are proficient at using WebEx, Outlook, and Intranet / Internet tools.

Pay Range : $100,000 - $120,000 per year
