GFL Environmental is looking for an Accounting Administrator to join our team based out of the Southfield, MI area! The responsibility of the Accounting Administrator is to ensure smooth day to day process of inter-office documentation and invoicing flow.

The incumbent may be requested to interact with internal and external customers and provide information in response to inquiries of service issues, deficiencies, and to handle, resolve and delegate such customer inquiries and complaints.

This position is responsible for the day to day process, organization of documents and general accounting and administration duties, and will be relied upon to foster and maintain positive vendor and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Documentation control photocopy and collect documents for distribution and filing
  • Dealing with phone enquiries and assisting customer and vendors, and forwarding related questions to management where applicable
  • Completing monthly billing, including processing and entering all time and material work
  • Assisting with cost estimates on a daily basis and submitting expenses for field staff
  • Request billing details for new customers, update existing customers if required, and create and log purchase orders
  • Upload invoicing in the system and send our vendor and supplier request for quotations if required
  • Verify invoices with packing slips and work orders and generate and distribute vendor invoices for approval
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and provide back up to site management
  • Handling routine customer problems and serve as interface between company and customer
  • Completing documentation and assisting the customer with required paperwork
  • Handle high request volumes with effective service quality
  • Manage time-sensitive administrative tasks
  • Other administrative tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies :

  • 2+ years of experience in Customer Service, Accounting, Billing, or other related role
  • University degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred
  • Strong computer literacy with intermediate level expertise with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starting proactive individual who can work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment
