Position Description

The Washington University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology is seeking candidates for the role of Assistant Residency Program Director of Ultrasound and Perioperative Technology to work with one of the top anesthesiology residencies in the US.

We will consider applications from any full-time faculty at the rank of assistant professor or above, at WashU or another institution.

The Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual to further the educational mission of the anesthesiology residency.

The individual will be expected to :

  • Develop and implement a longitudinal perioperative ultrasound program for the anesthesiology program across all four years of training
  • Oversee the structure and framework of the residency education curriculum
  • Perform targeted assessments and evaluations of education programs with emphasis on ultrasound
  • Develop programs for faculty growth within ultrasound education
  • Partner with the simulation center director to enhance simulation initiatives in residency education

In this exciting opportunity, the successful candidate will work closely with residency and departmental leadership to cultivate technologic innovation in education.

The applicant should have a strong background in ultrasound, and preferably be POCUS and TEE certified, or with equivalent certification.

The position will require curriculum development and implementation and will be instrumental in the selection of an expert faculty cohort to ensure ultrasound education across multiple specialties within the Department of Anesthesiology, with focus on the ABA Advanced exam and OSCEcontent outlines.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to increase their skills in curriculum development, assessment, and research within graduate medical education.

A tailored mentorship and leadership training program will be implemented for the new assistant program director to promote professional and academic growth.

This role will report to the Residency Program Director and the Vice-Chair for Education. We encourage applicants who have a strong commitment to building a collaborative culture and the exploration of novel approaches to residency training.
