About this role
Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the division. Provides oversight and manages programs, courses, and physical and fiscal resources of the designated disciplines.
Oversees Federal, State, and local grants including grant proposals, application materials, and corresponding reports. Manages departmental budget and provides guidance, feedback, and professional development for faculty and staff.
What a day of a Dean, Health Sciences looks like :
Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding policies, procedures, rules, and standards for the College and regional and program accrediting agencies.
Analyzes class and program needs of the College. Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses. Develops curriculum, performs program and course analysis, and ensures program compliance with state and national accreditation standards.
Develops and implements strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for prospective donors and corporate bodies.
Maintains relationships with funding organizations, seeks grant opportunities, acts as college liaison with established groups, and networks with new partners.
Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly and indirectly to you. Develops and trains staff.
Performs needs analysis, arranges, coordinates, delivers, evaluates, and monitors staff development.
Develops short-term and long-range goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations in support of the College’s strategic plan.
Provides oversight and monitors projects with attention to detail to ensure continuous improvement, maximum effectiveness, and compliance.
Prepares required reports for various internal and external requests. Ensures accuracy and completeness of reports and documents.
Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for the department.
Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional association events outside of and between college locations.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :
Master’s degree within specific subject area related to the position.
Eight years of related experience
Knowledge of :
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Best practices in higher education pedagogy
State and National licensure requirements within health sciences and nursing divisions
State regulatory agencies and their requirements
Skilled in :
Thinking strategically, effectively analyzing data, and implementing data-informed decisions
Managing and resolving conflict in a positive manner
Fact finding, analysis, and problem solving
Motivating employees to exert the effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goals
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to :
Establish ownership of areas of responsibility with an aptitude to anticipate and pro-actively execute tasks while identifying areas of enhancement, efficiencies, and solutions
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Gain the confidence and respect of diverse stakeholders in order to work effectively and build relationships of trust
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Accurately manage a budget
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements :
Regular physical attendance required
Must complete FERPA training within 30 days of employment

Education and Experience :
Doctorate’s degree
Experience in higher education administration, including curriculum development
Experience with grant oversight and management

Communicate information orally and in writing

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $84,786.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
