Job Description
The School of Professional Studies M.S. in Technology Management program is seeking industry professionals to teach the spring 2025 course Law for Technology.
These individuals will serve as part-time Lecturers.
Law is infused into every part of business, especially through the lens of technology. Fluency in business and legal frameworks, and risk / benefit principles, from idea to exit, is essential for any innovation leader.
This course offers a deep dive into the critical phases of technology companies and their journey through growth, scaling, and eventual market exit.
Topics include capital formation, contracts, intellectual property, human capital, and business transactions.
Responsibilities
- Lead online class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussion
- Lead in-person residency session(s)
- Evaluate student work and grade assignments
- Monitor student concerns and inquiries and be the first point of contact for student questions
- Hold weekly office hours
- Part time Lecturers who are new to SPS must complete Canvas training (online learning management system)

The spring class schedule has yet to be determined.
Qualifications
Columbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model, which enables students to learn from faculty that have outstanding academic training as well as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting.
Requirements
- A law degree from an accredited institution
- 10+ years of professional experience
- University teaching experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Future-oriented thought leadership as reflected by blogging / writing and public speaking
- Thought leadership as reflected by blogging / writing and public speaking
- Board-level advisory and consultative experience
- Experience with digital transformation, especially in regulated industries
- Fluency with contemporary ethical debates related to technology
Additional Information
Salary : $15,450 per semester-length course teaching.
