Position Summary :
Life Cycle Engineering is currently seeking individuals to support the Engineering and Planning Department (Code ) for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY&IMF) Guam Detachment as a Planner / Estimator in Apra Harbor, Guam.
As Planner Estimator, you will be involved with project planning, material planning, technical work document development and packaging, and records management in support of submarine availabilities for the following technical code disciplines : Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Combat Systems.
This is a -month rotation assignment with an option to extend. The selected candidate is a travel allowance to cover travel to Guam and living expenses per OPM guidance.
Clearance Requirement :
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain / maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Prepare and review TWDs (includes Task Group Instructions (TGIs) and Deficiency Logs / Forms (DLs / Client)) using the Government's AIM / AIMxp computer program.
TWDs provide instruction in performing systems maintenance, repair, and testing on naval vessels.
- Research materials and initiate a Job Material List (JML).
- Prepare Quality Assurance (QA) documents.
- Research drawings using Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS) & Ship's Drawing Index (SDI).
- Compile Allowance Parts Lists (APL).
- Review already completed AIM documentation to identify and provide recommended resolutions to technical problems or deficiencies.
- Perform ship checks of systems and components, as needed to aid in development of TWDs (includes Task Group Instructions and DL a recommended resolution to the deficiency (, need for repairs or removal as interference).
- Mentor junior engineers on various shipboard systems.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- At least years practical engineering experience which should include the operation, test, maintenance and repair of naval ships or equivalent military training and / or experience within a public or private shipyard environment.
- General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, structural or combat system.
- Familiarity with the following systems : Advance Industrial Management (AIM) Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS) Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service (CITIS) Ship's Drawing Index (SDI) drawings Allowance Parts Lists (APL) Submarine Maintenance Standards (SMS) MRQT MAT JEDMICS
- NAVSEAINST , Qualifications of Activities to Perform SUBSAFE, Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems, and Deep Submergence Systems-Scope of Certification Work.
- AVSEANOTE , Activities Authorized to perform SUBSAFE, FBW SCS and DSS-SOC work
- Experience with PHNSY&IMF Instructions.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Physical Demands and Expectations :
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting.
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
