The Finance team at Perdue is growing! The Financial Analyst will deliver timely and accurate forecasts, budgets and analytics for the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department.
These responsibilities include developing financial models, analyzing trends, collaborating with business partners, presenting insights to management, and performing ad hoc analyses upon request.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing financial data, identifying profit improvement opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement strategies that enhance overall profitability.
The Financial Analyst will report to the FP&A Director of Whole Bird Analytics / Profit plus interacts frequently with the VP of FP&A, the SVP of Whole Bird Analytics and Profit, and other executives throughout the company.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Director of Financial and Profit Opportunity, SVP Whole Bird Analytics and Profit, and Director of Demand Planning in modeling Perdue business choices against Whole Bird Metrics and Key Process indicators to improve profit, revenue, and capacity for commercial contracts and for the corporation at monthly, quarterly, annual reporting levels
- Deliver timely and accurate forecasts and budgets. Present trend analyses, manage changes and resolve issues. Provide transparency to methodology and confirm changes with business partners.
- Develop and optimize complex financial models that accurately capture financial trends by category. Analyze data, establish assumptions and conduct what-if scenarios.
Identify risks and opportunities and provide recommendations.
Independently design and execute complex ad hoc analyses as requested to answer questions regarding financial performance for multiple departments.
Gather necessary data, summarize insights, create clear written communication documents to present findings.
- Drive standardization of finance activities and scalable routines, including development of training guides and work step instructions.
- Utilize data visualization best practices to present complex information in a clear and concise manner; create and maintain interactive and visually-appealing dashboards that use tools such as PowerBI.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field). The ideal candidate will have / be :
- 2-4 years of experience within a financial planning and analysis group.
- Working knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical ability- deal with ambiguity, synthesize complex data and draw business insights.
- Creative problem solver that can identify patterns from disparate sources and deliver comprehensive and actionable analyses.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects within tight timelines.
- Ability to effectively communicate point of view to management and cross-functional teams.
- A detail oriented approach- must pay close attention to details and error check own work.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Trustworthy with confidential information. Reliability (attendance and timeliness) important to ensure execution of deliverables.
Experience Preferred
- Customer service mindset and ability to work with internal clients around the company.
- Ability to cope with pressure and changing priorities with a focus on delivering results.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills as well as the ability to learn software applications (i.e. SAP, PowerBI, Hyperion Essbase).
- Proactively initiates changes to improve work processes.
- Experience in protein, consumer products or foods-related industries is a plus.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
