Project Control Manager

Position Overview :

The Controls Manager will oversee the bidding process, order materials, and manage the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and programming of building automation control systems.

With a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, this role supports both internal teams and external clients. A solid understanding of HVAC systems, control devices, computer basics, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, direct digital controls, airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, and building control techniques is essential.

Pre-Hire Requirements :

This role requires a drug test, driving report, proof of insurability, and a background check.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the startup, checkout, and troubleshooting for HVAC control systems.
  • Conduct wiring checks and assist with automation system startups using commissioning tools.
  • Complete system adjustments and calibrations, and submit detailed commissioning reports.
  • Participate in job site meetings and final walk-throughs for projects, and handle job closeout documentation.
  • Repair and maintain building control systems, including air handler controls, room controls, chilled water controls, and other building automation systems.
  • Facilitate smooth project transitions from installation to service teams.
  • Enforce strict safety standards and maintain accountability of company assets.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and reporting.
  • Additional tasks as required.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • High school diploma required; technical degree in mechanical or electrical fields is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, sequences, and applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in installing and servicing electronic controls or HVAC equipment.
  • Familiarity with electronic and digital control systems; ability to write and test software modifications in multiple programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience with low-voltage building subsystems integration, especially using protocols like BACnet, N2, and Modbus.
  • Strong team player with a commitment to excellent customer support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work in various conditions, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders and scaffolds, as well as working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, and basements, in a range of indoor / outdoor, hot / cold, and day / night environments.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments.
  • Use of hand tools, laptops, email, smartphone, and tablet is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
