- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing homework help, facilitating activities, and supervising students during programming
- Take daily attendance.
- Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families, and school faculty
- Coordinate events / functions in specialty area such as : showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
- Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
- Prepare related paperwork, materials, and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
- Attend all necessary program meetings / training's.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with youth in area of specialty
- Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with young people and their parents
- Program design and curriculum management or implementation experience
- Experience with or knowledge of best practices in youth development preferred
- High school diploma or equivalency required; some college preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and / or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and / or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and / or field work.
