SUMMARY
Provides direct supervision of Respiratory Care employees and acts as senior resource therapist, able to handle patient care while on duty as necessary.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and two or more years related experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist Staffing Coordinator with the monthly schedule and daily assignments.
2. Conducts ongoing continuing education and training.
a. Schedules and conducts respiratory orientation with New Hires.
b. Conducts appropriate respiratory care cross-training as needed.
c. Maintains up-to-date records on continuing education and in services.
d. Arranges in-services for respiratory staff.
3. Participates in committees / meetings as needed.
4. Attends physician rounds when required.
5. Collaborates with physicians and other personnel to continuously update plan of care for each resident.
6. Assists DON in assessment of new residents.
a. Assists in developing cost of care for new residents.
b. Trains staff with reference to respiratory needs of new residents.
7. Acts as resource person for clinical assessments, troubleshooting of equipment and staff education.
8. Assures soiled equipment is processed.
9. Assures adequate stock of supplies and medications by taking daily inventory and reporting shortages to appropriate personnel.
10. Maintains life support systems
a. Assures the accuracy of all equipment through calibrations, adjustments and troubleshooting.
b. Demonstrates knowledge of resident's on-going status.
c. Assists with plan of care by communicating with appropriate personnel and physicians by discussing ventilatory findings and parameters.
11. Performs respiratory care therapeutic procedures.
12. Completes assigned workload and shares in various responsibilities of total resident care.
13. Performs special procedures.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Valid Florida Driver's License
CPR AED Certifications
