Job Description
The Dallas Morning News is looking for an experienced Government Accountability Editor to join our local news team that’s striving to produce meaningful stories in the country’s ninth largest city that anchors its fourth-largest metro area.

Our local news reporting team is diverse with a range of experience. Some significant stories this team has covered in the past year include :

This editor will work with a team of reporters with an emphasis on developing reporting and writing skills from exercising solid news judgment to developing strong sourcing to turning those sources into scoops, insightful enterprise work and projects with the potential to transform Dallas.
Our focus is on growing our local news staff into the preeminent reporting team in Texas.
This editor will report to our assistant managing editor for news.
Job Requirements

Excellent editing, time management, planning and prioritization skills to manage daily assignments as well as long-term enterprise.
A proven ability to help reporters meet audience goals based on analytics.
A concrete understanding of SEO best practices and how to optimize a story’s digital presentation, including headlines, links, tags and visual elements.
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in a newsroom.
