Position Overview : The Business Development Manager for North America Freight Forwarding is responsible for executing business development processes by focusing on designing and adapting supply chain solutions that are based on customer needs within International Freight Forwarding.
This position reports to the Managing Director of Freight Forwarding and will track and pursue proposals to customers that can deliver value and, in turn, help the customers achieve their goals.
The Business Development Manager represents the company within the marketplace through different avenues such as industry events, the RFP process, conferences, and other lead-generating activities.
Salary : $65,000 to $75,000 with 12% GP Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Find & develop qualified leads (cold calling), then convert them through the sales process into prospects and customers
- Continuously keep the sales pipeline full with deals at various types and stages, including fresh / new (qualified) leads / introductions, mid / late-stage sales life cycle targets
- Perform regular visits to qualified prospects and customers to drive the business and grow the company's revenue, market share, and profitability
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
- Effectively navigate a prospect’s organization and utilize CJ Logistics America resources to best position CJL with all the decision-makers and influencers
- Understand the business direction and trends related to the customer’s industry domain
- Earn customer commitment to include CJ Logistics in their next freight forwarding supply chain opportunity
- Stay in communication with key decision-makers through value-driven communications
- Orchestrate events during the sales cycle (meetings, tours, workshops) that enable each customer to experience CJL’s culture, leadership, and passion firsthand
- Develop an understanding of each customer’s supply chain operation and match CJL solutions with that understanding to generate high-impact, customer-centric proposals
- Manage business development and delivery objectives with new customers
- Develop customized value propositions that summarize CJ Logistics America's benefits in customer terms
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related discipline is preferred
- 4+ years of experience in a client-facing or account management role
- Proven success in direct sales and client engagement
- Achievement in generating leads and moving them through the pipeline
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively along vertical and horizontal planes internally and in client organizations
- Detail-oriented and able to manage and maintain all facets of complex assignments
- Proven success in problem-solving with an aptitude in identifying strategic solutions with enterprise-wide implications
- Flexibility to work among diverse corporate environments, industries, and audiences
- Travel as needed up to 40%
